Job Description: This position reports directly to the SCAT Transit Manager
Job Responsibilities:
Safe transportation of passengers in agency vans. Routes will be designated, most of which are diversified in nature because they are demand-responsive and include door-to door service for patrons as assigned through the SCAT dispatcher.
Assistance of passengers including frail, handicapped, and individuals confined to wheelchairs.
Maintenance of records for the program including collecting and recording of data, filling out appropriate forms, and making daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles (i.e. checking oil and gas levels, maintaining proper tire pressure, washing vehicles, etc.) ,reporting any problems with the vehicle, and keeping t he vehicle clean at all times.
Collection and accounting for fares and donations, sale of tickets and passes, and handling of these monies and daily deposit of funds.
Successful completion of training including CPR, First Aid, Blood Born Pathogens, Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance Techniques, Safety, Sensitivity Training with disabilities, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, and additional sessions as needed.
Maintaining a good working relationship with SCAT passengers and staff and assisting in the promotion of Saline County Area Transit.
Performance of other duties as assigned by the SCAT Director.
Qualifications: Must hold a valid Driver's License and DOT medical exam for public passenger transport and be able to assume the job responsibilities outlined above. Safe driving record, good physical condition, and twenty-one (21) years of age or older. Satisfactory physical exam, drug testing, and police background check required as a condition of employment.
Characteristics: Important personality traits are cooperation, loyalty, dependability, safety-mindedness, politeness, and ability to work without direct supervision. Also necessary are a neat appearance and respectful manner.
Salary: Dependent upon experience and qualifications.
